Microbial-Vac System from Microbial-Vac Systems, Inc (MSI)

Description

(M-Vac) is a hand-held, non-destructive, wet-vacuum surface sampling device that allows a revolutionary new approach to acquiring microbial samples. This novel sampler incorporates Liquid-Assisted Microbial Detachment and Capture (LAMDAC) principles to more efficiently collect surface microorganisms from virtually any surface.

The Sterile Surface Rinse Solution (SRS) is applied under low pressure to any surface and then vacuumed from that surface along with detached and suspended microbes.

The microbes and SRS then accumulate in the collection chamber of the M-Vac and are held there for testing and further processing.

The Microbial-Vac (M-Vac) System consists of a highly efficient dry or wet-vacuum device and support equipment for surface pathogen/bio-threat agent collection and containment. The hand-held sampling device reduces re-aerosolization of dry surface materials/powders by allowing the application of formulated liquid onto the surface as needed to suspend and recover surface pathogens or other bio-threat agents.

Safe containment of the liquid pathogen suspensions within the hand-held unit is assured through the use of unique hydrophobic filters within the unit. The portable System allows field teams to sample much larger surface areas with higher collection efficiency per unit surface area. This System significantly improves the team's capabilities to accurately and safely collect lab samples for improved pathogen field location and identification. Improved field sampling increases the probabilities of accurate lab data and reduces the chances of false negative lab results.
